1. Agreement to Terms

Welcome to ExifView.net (the “Service”), owned and operated by ExifView.net ("We", “Us”, or “Our”). By accessing or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you disagree with any part of the terms, you must not access or use the Service.

2. Description of Service

ExifView.net is an online utility providing tools for processing digital image files uploaded by users. Our core services include:

  • EXIF Data Viewer: A tool that extracts, analyzes, and displays detailed metadata (including EXIF, IPTC, and XMP) from uploaded image files.
  • EXIF Data Clean (Remover): A tool that processes and removes all embedded metadata from an uploaded image file, providing a clean, metadata-free version for the user to download.

3. User Obligations and Content License

3.1 Content Ownership

You retain all ownership rights to the images and data you upload to the Service (“User Content”). We do not claim any ownership over your User Content.

3.2 License to Us

By uploading User Content, you grant Us a temporary, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, display, and process the User Content solely for the purpose of providing the requested services (i.e., viewing or cleaning the metadata). This license immediately terminates once the processing is complete and the files are deleted from our servers.

3.3 Prohibited Content

You agree not to upload, post, or transmit any User Content that:

  • Is illegal, threatening, defamatory, or abusive.
  • Contains viruses or any other harmful code.
  • Infringes upon the intellectual property or privacy rights of any third party.
  • Depicts illegal acts or promotes violence, hate, or discrimination.

4. Third-Party Services

We integrate with and rely on various external services to provide functionality, analytics, and monetization for the Service. These may include:

  • Analytics Tools: For monitoring and analyzing website usage.
  • Advertising Platforms: For displaying advertisements to support the free Service.
  • Mapping Services (e.g., OpenStreetMap): For displaying geographic (GPS) data extracted by the EXIF Data Viewer.

Please Note Regarding Third Parties:

  • These third-party services operate under their own independent terms of service and privacy policies.
  • We assume no responsibility or liability for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites or services. You acknowledge and agree that we shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with the use of or reliance on any such content, goods or services available on or through any such websites or services.
  • The use of cookie controls and browser settings may affect the functionality and performance provided by these integrated services.

5. Privacy and Data Handling

5.1 Data Retention Policy

We are committed to user privacy. For the purpose of providing the Service:

  • Uploaded Files (Originals): All original image files uploaded for processing (whether for viewing or cleaning metadata) are automatically and permanently deleted immediately upon the completion of the requested operation.
  • Processed Files (Metadata Cleaned): If you use the EXIF Data Clean, the resulting metadata-free file will be available for download and will be automatically and permanently deleted from our servers within 24 hours of processing, or upon your browser session closing, whichever occurs first.
  • No Backup: We do not maintain backups of your User Content. You are responsible for maintaining your own copies of all original and processed files.

5.2 Metadata Removal

You acknowledge that the EXIF Data Clean tool is designed to permanently and irreversibly remove metadata. By using this tool, you accept the risk that essential data (such as GPS coordinates, camera information, and timestamps) may be lost, and this loss cannot be reversed by Us.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content (excluding User Content), features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of ExifView.net and its licensors.

7. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

7.1 Service “AS IS”

The Service is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis, without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including, but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

7.2 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall ExifView.net, its affiliates, directors, or employees be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:

  • Your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service.
  • Any unauthorized access to or use of our servers and/or any personal information stored therein.
  • The permanent loss of metadata resulting from the use of the EXIF Data Clean tool.

8. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

9. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right, at Our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. We will try to provide at least 30 days’ notice prior to any new terms taking effect. By continuing to access or use Our Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.
