Privacy Policy

Effective Date :

This Privacy Policy describes how ExifView.net (the “Service”), operated by ExifView.net ("We", “Us”, or “Our”), collects, uses, maintains, and discloses information from users (“User” or “You”) of the Service.

1. Information We Collect

We primarily collect two types of information: Processing Data (uploaded files) and Non-Personal Information (usage data).

1.1 User Content (Processing Data) - No Retention Policy

When you use our EXIF Data Viewer or EXIF Data Clean, you upload an image file (the “User Content”).

  • No Storage Policy: We DO NOT store, archive, or back up your User Content.
  • Collection Purpose: We temporarily collect this User Content solely for the purpose of performing the service you requested (i.e., extracting or stripping metadata).
  • Original Files: All original uploaded files are automatically and permanently deleted immediately upon completion of the service (Viewer or Clean).
  • Processed Cleaned Files: The resulting metadata-free file will be held temporarily for user download and is automatically and permanently deleted within 24 hours of processing, or upon your browser session closing, whichever is sooner.

1.2 Non-Personal Information (Usage Data)

We automatically collect general information about your use of the Service, which does not directly identify you. This includes:

  • Browser and Device Data: Type of browser, device type, operating system, and language settings.
  • Log Data: Your IP address, date and time of access, pages viewed, and the referring website.
  • Service Metrics: Information on which tools you used (Viewer or Clean), and the success/failure rates of file processing.

2. How We Use the Collected Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

CategoryPurpose
User ContentTo execute the requested metadata viewing or cleaning operations.
Usage DataTo maintain, operate, improve, and personalize the Service.

3. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing

We rely on third-party services for essential functions. By using our Service, you acknowledge and agree that your information (primarily Non-Personal Information) may be processed by these parties according to their own policies.

3.1 Analytics and Advertising

We use third-party services for analytics and advertising, which may use cookies, web beacons, and other tracking technologies to collect data about your use of the Service.

  • Google Analytics: To understand how the Service is used.
  • Advertising Partners: To display advertisements to support the free Service. These partners may use your Non-Personal Information to serve targeted ads.

3.2 External Mapping Services

When the EXIF Data Viewer extracts GPS coordinates, we may use a third-party mapping service (e.g., OpenStreetMap) to visually display the location. Note that we DO NOT transmit the original image file to the mapping service; only the extracted coordinates are used for display.

Our Service may contain links to other sites that are not operated by Us. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Service uses “cookies” to enhance your user experience. A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device.

  • Session Cookies: Used to keep you logged in and to track your current session for processing purposes. These are deleted when you close your browser.
  • Preference Cookies: Used to remember your site preferences.
  • Third-Party Cookies: Used by our analytics and advertising partners (see Section 3).

You may choose to set your web browser to refuse cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you do so, note that some parts of the Service may not function properly.

5. Data Security

We adopt appropriate data collection, storage, and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of your Non-Personal Information and the temporary Processing Data.

However, remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

6. Children’s Privacy

Our Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided Us with personal information, please contact Us.

  • Right to Access: The right to request copies of your personal data.
